Leisure Pools’ April 2026 Pool of the Month

A Hill Country horizon worth every detail
When a homeowner climbs to the top of a 14-foot ladder in an empty lot just to confirm the view is everything he imagined, you know the pool that eventually gets built there had better not disappoint. For this recently retired Texas couple, their forever home in the Hill Country of Texas was always going to be about the view: rolling hills, open sky and a neighboring ranch spanning thousands of acres. Every decision made during the design and build process came back to that single vision.
This month, Leisure Pools is proud to feature Pools123 and their stunning April 2026 Pool of the Month installation: The Horizon in Ebony Blue.
- Award-Winning Project: Leisure Pools named “The Horizon in Ebony Blue,” installed by dealer Pools123 for a retired couple’s Texas Hill Country forever home, as its April 2026 Pool of the Month.
- Prioritizing the View: The entire project was designed around preserving an uninterrupted, sprawling view of thousands of acres of neighboring ranchland.
- Overcoming Topography: To handle an eight-foot slope without the high cost of a custom vanishing edge build, the team used “The Horizon” model to mimic a vanishing edge effect that naturally fit the terrain.D
- Designed for Wellness: The pool features spa jets and a heat pump chiller for year-round temperature control, allowing it to function for both warm water therapy and cold plunges.
- Meticulous Details: The installation included a full patio extension, outdoor bar, and built-in kitchen. The builders also spent extensive time sourcing cut limestone that perfectly matched the home’s existing stonework.
- Natural Landscaping: Instead of a traditional lawn, the backyard utilizes low-maintenance native Texas grasses and xeriscaping to blend seamlessly into the surrounding environment.
The right pool for the right landscape
The Hill Country is known for its dramatic topography, and this backyard was no exception. From start to finish, the grade dropped approximately eight feet, which was a significant elevation change that shaped nearly every element of the project.
The homeowners had their hearts set on the feeling of a vanishing edge pool, drawn to the way that style seems to dissolve into the landscape beyond. The Horizon model proved to be an ideal solution. It delivered that coveted visual connection to the scenery without the cost of a full custom vanishing edge build, and its proportions worked naturally with the sloping terrain.
Just as important, the pool needed not to interrupt the view. The homeowner had purchased the lot specifically for what he could see standing at slab height. He knew from the moment he climbed that ladder that this was his place. Keeping that sightline intact was non-negotiable.

Built for retirement, designed for living
The couple envisioned their pool as more than a place to swim. As a forever home and a place to settle into a new chapter, they wanted a space that could support water therapy and mobility work, provide genuine relaxation and accommodate entertaining in a beautiful outdoor setting.
To meet those needs, the Pools123 team outfitted The Horizon with spa jets and a heat pump chiller, a combination that gives the homeowners full control over water temperature throughout the year. On cooler days, the pool can be warmed to a therapeutic soak. On hot Texas afternoons, the chiller can drop the temperature and transform it into a refreshing cold plunge. The pool runs on a traditional chlorine system, chosen for its reliability and straightforward maintenance. The versatility across all these features was intentional, and the results delivered.
One of the couple’s early concerns was whether The Horizon would be large enough for the water therapy they had in mind. The feedback after installation was clear: it was more than enough. The pool gave them everything they needed and then some.
Where the details made all the difference
Some of the most meaningful decisions on this project were the ones that almost did not happen.
The homeowners initially planned to keep an existing staircase and preserve portions of the original patio to manage costs. The team gently pushed back on both. Replacing the staircase opened the design considerably. Re-pouring the patio allowed the team to adjust the elevation so the bar height aligned seamlessly with the surrounding surface. What seemed like a minor adjustment changed the entire flow of the outdoor living area. The homeowners later expressed gratitude for both recommendations.
Coping selection was another area where no shortcuts were taken. The team visited four different quarries and stone yards searching for cut limestone that would match the existing cap on the house. They also matched the pattern in which the limestone blocks had been laid on the home’s exterior. It is the kind of detail most guests will never consciously notice, but the homeowners noticed, and it mattered deeply to them.
The project was rounded out with a full patio extension, an outdoor bar and a built-in kitchen area, turning the entire backyard into a cohesive and functional outdoor retreat. Hayward pool equipment was used throughout the installation.

A landscape as intentional as the pool itself
The grounds surrounding the pool were approached with the same level of care as the hardscape and water features. Rather than a traditional lawn, the landscaping leans into the natural character of the region with native Texas grasses and a xeriscaping design philosophy. The result feels organic to the Hill Country setting: low maintenance, visually striking and entirely at home against the limestone coping and open ranchland views stretching beyond the property line.
A forever home, finally complete
The home itself had a longer journey to completion than anticipated. Construction began in 2019, and COVID pushed the finish date into 2021. By the time the pool project came together, the homeowners were ready to fully settle in and ready for a backyard that matched the home they had always envisioned.
With Hill Country views stretching across thousands of acres of open ranchland, a pool engineered for both wellness and relaxation, and outdoor living spaces designed down to the last limestone joint, this is a project built to be enjoyed for decades.
Congratulations to Pools123 on a beautifully executed installation, and to a deserving couple on a retirement well begun.
