Automatic
Pool Covers

For Fiberglass Pools

An automatic pool cover adds convenience, protection and peace of mind to fiberglass pool ownership. With the push of a button, it creates a protective barrier over your pool, helping reduce evaporation, retain heat and keep debris out of the water.

Learn how automatic pool covers work, the benefits they provide and what to consider when planning a fiberglass pool with an integrated cover system.

Why consider a cover?

An automatic safety cover creates a protective barrier over the pool when it is closed, helping limit unsupervised access and providing added peace of mind around children and pets. Leisure Pools offers ASTM-certified automatic pool covers through Integra Pool Covers.

Much of a swimming pool’s heat loss occurs through evaporation.  Covering the pool helps reduce evaporation and retain heat, which can support greater efficiency and help maintain a more comfortable water temperature.

A closed cover helps keep leaves, dirt and other debris out of the water while also helping maintain water chemistry. That means less time skimming and cleaning before you swim.

Automatic covers extend and retract at the push of a button, making it easy to cover the pool when you are finished and uncover it when you are ready to swim again.

How an automatic cover works.

An automatic pool cover uses a motorized system to extend and retract a durable cover across the water. Tracks positioned along the sides of the pool guide the cover as it moves, while the operating mechanism controls its movement.

When closed, the cover forms a protective barrier over the pool. When you’re ready to swim, the system retracts the cover into a designated storage area, keeping it out of sight and leaving the pool ready to enjoy.

Storage + Service

When the pool is open, the cover is stored out of sight in a designated cover box. Proper planning allows this area to blend into the finished design while maintaining access for future inspection, maintenance and repairs.

Mechanism

A motorized mechanism moves the cover along the tracks, allowing the pool to be opened or closed with minimal effort.

Automatic cover FAQs.

Automatic safety covers are designed to create a barrier over the pool when closed. Leisure Pools offers ASTM-certified automatic covers through Integra Pool Covers, but a cover should always be used according to manufacturer instructions and local safety requirements.

A cover can help retain heat and reduce evaporation, both of which can improve energy efficiency and reduce the amount of heat lost from the pool.

Yes. Like any other mechanical system, an automatic cover requires periodic inspection and service. Leisure Pools recommends having the cover and operating system evaluated and serviced to help keep it working properly.

Automatic covers can be incorporated into many fiberglass pool designs, but compatibility depends on the pool’s shape, dimensions and surrounding deck layout. Planning for a cover before installation generally provides more flexibility for integrating tracks, storage and operating components. Your pool builder can help determine the best solution for your selected pool.

Ideally, yes. Including an automatic cover in the initial design allows your pool builder to account for the tracks, cover storage, operating mechanism and surrounding deck. Early planning can help achieve a cleaner finished appearance and avoid complications associated with adding a cover later.
