Leisure Pools Celebrates Outstanding June and July 2024 Pool of the Month Winners

From a community-inspiring project in Kentucky to an engineering marvel in Tennessee, our June and July 2024 Pool of the Month winners prove that with the right combination of creativity, expertise and premium fiberglass pools, any backyard can become an extraordinary outdoor retreat.

The summer of 2024 brought two exceptional pool installations to the spotlight as Leisure Pools recognized Brummett Pools and Tennessee Valley Pools and Spas as our June and July Pool of the Month winners, respectively. Today, we’re diving into the remarkable June installation that demonstrates how one beautiful pool can inspire an entire community.

In the Louisville metropolitan area, Brummett Pools, under the leadership of owner Dale Brummett, completed a stunning Summit 30 installation that perfectly complemented an already vibrant backyard space. The homeowner, who had previously constructed a pickleball court in her driveway (complete with a basketball goal), wanted to enhance her outdoor living area even further.

Sophisticated Features and Custom Design

The Silver Grey Summit 30 installation stands out with its sophisticated features, including a salt water chlorination system, built-in heating and an elegant charcoal-colored border. A sheer descent waterfall adds a touch of tranquility to one side of the pool, while an automatic pool cover from Integra Pool Covers provides both safety and convenience.

What makes this project particularly interesting is the homeowner’s hands-on approach as the General Contractor. Working closely with Brummett Pools, she orchestrated a comprehensive transformation that included coordinating with additional teams for the surrounding pool decking and pavilion construction. The project seamlessly integrated with existing backyard features, including artificial turf areas and a playset for grandchildren. The homeowner also extended and enclosed her back porch with glass and heating, creating a year-round connection to her outdoor paradise.

Creating a Pool Community

Perhaps the most remarkable aspect of this installation is its role in a growing chain of pool ownership in the community. The project itself was inspired by one of the homeowner’s employees across the river in Indiana, who had previously chosen Brummett Pools for their installation. Following this successful project, the homeowner’s daughter, living just a few houses away, opted for a Summit 35 in the same elegant Silver Grey finish. The trend continues as Brummett Pools works on yet another installation in the area, showcasing the power of word-of-mouth referrals and quality craftsmanship.

Moving to our July 2024 Pool of the Month winner, Tennessee Valley Pools & Spas transformed a challenging hillside property into a breathtaking oasis in Lenoir City, Tennessee. Construction Lead JW Sellberg and his team tackled what initially seemed like an impossible task: creating a pool setting on a property with no natural flat ground.

Engineering Excellence Meets Aesthetic Beauty

The project began with extensive excavation work, as the home sat midway up a hill that sloped sharply toward the rear of the property. A substantial retaining wall was required to create a level space for the installation. But it’s what the team did with this necessary structural element that truly sets this project apart – they incorporated a stunning waterfall feature that became the installation’s crown jewel.

Inspired by a similar feature the homeowner had admired elsewhere, the team constructed an impressive waterfall using giant flagstones. This dramatic water feature was carefully integrated with the standard stack stone retaining wall, with most of the stonework completed before the concrete phase began. The result is a perfect marriage of function and aesthetics.

A Secluded Paradise

The team installed a Tuscany 23 in sophisticated Graphite Grey, complemented by Belgard graphite coping that provides a dark, elegant border. A Ridgeline NPT blue slate border tile adds a refined finishing touch to the pool’s perimeter. The installation includes three light features and a saltwater chlorination system with heating for year-round enjoyment. Local wildlife, including deer and turkeys, often provide an enchanting backdrop to this secluded paradise, as the property backs up to wooded acreage in a quiet cul-de-sac location.

Working with their trusted concrete finishing partners, Tennessee Valley Pools & Spas incorporated stamped concrete into the design, further enhancing the overall aesthetic of this remarkable backyard transformation.
