Leisure Pools’ January 2026 Pool of the Month

Some pools are simply places to swim. Others become the centerpiece of a well-lived life. The Pinnacle 40 in Graphite Grey from Leisure Pools and installed by Loy’s Pools & Patios of Maryville, TN, on a stunning 30-acre property just 25 minutes west of Knoxville is unmistakably the latter.
Sales and Design Consultant Jake Amburgey, who oversaw this project for Loy’s, has a special fondness for this one. “That is my favorite pool I’ve ever done,” he says, and it’s easy to see why.
- This modern backyard retreat in Lenoir City, Tennessee, was named Leisure Pools’ January 2026 Pool of the Month. Here are the key highlights of the project:
- Design Aesthetic: The project features a Pinnacle 40 model in Graphite Grey, complemented by marble decking installed at a 45-degree angle to create a sleek, monochromatic, and “resort-like” feel.
- Technical Challenges: During installation, the team from Loy’s Pools & Patios had to use jackhammers to remove solid rock discovered beneath the surface of the 30-acre property.
- Premium Amenities: The pool is equipped with saltwater filtration, heating, LED lighting, and deck jets for visual and auditory ambiance.
- Seamless Integration: To maintain unobstructed views of the sprawling landscape, the homeowners opted for an automatic pool cover instead of a traditional safety fence.
- Year-Round Living: The space includes a custom wood-burning fireplace with gas ignition, allowing the family to utilize the outdoor area beyond the typical swimming season.
- Award-Winning Collaboration: This was the first independent design by consultant Jake Amburgey and was executed entirely by Loy’s in-house design-build team.
A vision built on clean lines and cohesion

The homeowners came to Loy’s Pools & Patios with a clear aesthetic in mind: monochromatic, modern and polished. The Pinnacle 40‘s clean geometric profile was a natural fit. From there, Amburgey and the Loy’s team built an environment that felt intentional from every angle.
Marble decking and coping were selected to complement the Graphite Grey finish, and the result is exactly the kind of timeless elegance natural stone promises. Amburgey noted that marble weathers beautifully over time, only improving with age. To maximize the visual impact of the decking pattern, the team installed everything on a 45-degree diagonal, a technique that not only creates a striking look but also conceals any subtle irregularities in the home’s existing lines.
Lush landscaping ties the entire space together, giving the pool area that all-inclusive, resort-like quality the homeowners envisioned.
Solving what the land had to offer
Beautiful results rarely come without challenges. When excavation began on what appeared to be a flat, open stretch of grass, the crew quickly discovered solid rock beneath the surface. The team transitioned to a jackhammer attachment and hauled out approximately two loads of rock before the installation could proceed, exactly the kind of situation where Loy’s Pools & Patios’ fully in-house team makes the difference. Every phase of the project, from design through installation, is handled by their own experienced team, allowing them to pivot quickly when the unexpected arises.
Backyard pool amenities that engage every sense

The homeowners wanted more than a beautiful pool. They also wanted an experience. The Pinnacle 40 was outfitted with saltwater filtration, heating, LED lighting and deck jets that send arcing streams of water into the pool. “They wanted the sound of the deck jets and the visual aspect,” Amburgey explained. “You can’t beat the visual of water jets and waterfalls.”
A custom wood-burning fireplace with gas ignition rounds out the space, allowing the family to enjoy their outdoor living area well beyond the swim season. The fireplace’s clean white finish stands in striking contrast to the dark pool and stone, grounding the design with warmth and architectural interest.
The auto cover that replaced a fence

Because the property sits on expansive private land, with the only neighbor being the homeowner’s father-in-law about 300 feet away, making it something of a family compound, the homeowners had no desire for a traditional pool fence. Instead, an automatic pool cover provides the safety and security they needed without interrupting the clean sightlines of the design. It’s a practical solution that never compromises the aesthetic.
A first design worth celebrating
For Amburgey, this project will always hold a special place. It was the first pool he designed and sold independently, and it earned Loy’s Pools & Patios a Pool of the Month recognition from Leisure Pools. However, as he’s quick to point out, the real credit belongs to the installation team. “We have the world’s best installers,” he emphasized. “All credit should be theirs.”
That humility is part of what makes Loy’s Pools & Patios stand out. Serving Blount County and the greater Knoxville, Tennessee area, including Maryville and Monroe County, Loy’s operates as a true design-build firm where every element, from landscape design to pool installation, is executed in-house. The result is a seamless process and a finished product that looks like it was always meant to be there.
And in the case of this Lenoir City retreat, it most certainly was.
