Pool of the Month for January 2023
When you first meet Pioneer Valley Fiberglass Pools and Spas owner Clarence (Clancy to all who know him) Kaye, if you sense a friendly, inviting, and approachable individual, then please don’t waver from that initial conclusion. Clancy has been in the fiberglass pool business since 2001. When he first entered the industry, he really didn’t have much experience at all. What he did have, however, was an impressive resume that has certainly lent itself well to everything he has done professionally over the course of the past couple of decades. So it should come as no surprise that Pioneer Valley is being recognized with the Pool of the Month for January 2023.
Prior to getting in the pool business, Clancy had worked for a power generation company. He has a strong background in construction and engineering. To use his words, he just sort of “fell into the pool business.” While he was somewhat familiar with gunite and vinyl liner pools, his experience led him to believe that there was another type of pool material available that would be a better alternative.
Construction Experience + Engineering Experience = Expert Pool Builder
When he first discovered fiberglass inground backyard swimming pools, Clancy did his homework thoroughly. He wanted to ensure he was selling a top-notch product. After all, buying a swimming pool is not just an investment in the product alone. It is also an investment in one’s family, home, and even health.
Further, with the lifetime of maintenance-free memories just ready to be made, Clancy knew he had hit upon a winner with the stylish collection of fiberglass pools from Leisure Pools™.
As he transitioned from his former career into the pool business, Clancy rolled up his sleeves and got right down to business. Working tirelessly yet equally enthusiastically over the years, he went from a home-based operation to a five-acre location with a 2,500 square foot showroom and an outdoor
facility with six fully functional Leisure Pools swimming pools in Westfield, Massachusetts. The latter will enjoy a grand opening celebration in the early summer of 2023.
“This will be a state-of-the-art showroom with six inground pools on display with myriad hardscape features,” he indicated.
Clancy currently has his own distribution yard with about 80 pools.
The approach to pool installs that Pioneer Valley Fiberglass Pools and Spas takes is quite simple, too. This company’s focus is simply on the pool. They don’t take credit for hardscaping or landscaping. However, they do have great relationships with people in these trades to whom they refer customers and with whom they have worked for years.
Clancy understands the importance of having a great relationship with the people with whom he works. As a result, that extends to creating trusted relationships with the people he serves.

Building Pools and Building Memories
The Pool of the Month for January 2023 is an installation in Cheshire, Connecticut, and showcases a Leisure Pools™ star: The Supreme 40’ in gorgeous Sapphire Blue, complemented with a raised Sorrento Spa and automatic pool cover by Integra Pool Covers.
Previously a blank slate, this backyard is now home to a show-stopping ensemble. In addition to the stunning pool, there is also a pool house. Although this structure was designed and built by another firm, Clancy’s team was involved with the placement of all of the pool equipment that is stored in the building.
“The homeowner wanted to use the hot tub year-round,” noted Clancy. “As such, they needed a place for the equipment that could function year-round for the spa only.”
Accenting a modern style of home in a new development on about an acre of land, the homeowners desired a pool so they could swim and gather with family and friends. While initially the owners requested a spa that spilled over into the pool, Clancy had a better suggestion for their needs.
“I talked them out of that and instead told them we should build the spa raised and add a sheer descent in the wall to recycle the pool water,” he explained. “This way, it gives the appearance of a spillover, but it is actually recycled pool water.”
Various lighting accents from Omnilogic in and around the pool and spa, along with deck jets, add to the overall attraction of the pool. The stone in the spa is granite, as well as the coping. The surrounding pavers are similar to a travertine product. Combined, these provide a natural ambiance to the overall space.
It’s pretty obvious then why this pool was chosen to be the Pool of the Month for January 2023. This is also why Pioneer Valley Fiberglass Pools and Spas continues to maintain appreciable momentum when it comes to installing backyard pools. Their reputation precedes them. People see the quality of the pools and their work and want the same level of detail and customer service for their own backyard pool projects.
Pioneer Valley Fiberglass Pools and Spas: An Award-Winning Pool Company
Pioneer Valley Fiberglass Pools and Spas was honored in November 2022 at the annual dealer conference for Leisure Pools. Clancy and his team took home three exciting awards that are a true testament to the work they do. These include:
Quality Pool Installations: Experience Matters
“This was a great project to be involved with,” reflected Clancy. “The family was very nice and gracious. This gave us all a great sense of accomplishment. From the pool to the pool house, everything was top shelf, the best of the best.”
Pioneer Valley Pools and Spas is familiar with the best, however, as the best is always what they deliver.
“We have always said that experience matters,” said Clancy. “I got into this business in the infancy of the product. Back then, the market share was small. We embarked on what no one else was doing at the time.”
Since then, Pioneer Valley Fiberglass Pools and Spas has a portfolio with a reach that extends beyond 1,000 fiberglass backyard pool installations.
Pioneer Valley Fiberglass Pools and Spas is a family-operated business, small in nature but large in volume. No matter the project, this company takes the time to develop their skill sets and maintain experienced, dedicated crews.
“We provide a high level of customer service,” stated Clancy. “We believe the quality of the work we deliver far surpasses others. It’s our experience that sets us apart.”
